Happy New Year 2023

Happy New Year 2023- May this be all of our best years ever

Per our tradition, although SoundBroker.com will continue to function, our office will be closing on 23 Dec and reopening on Monday, 3 January 2022. During that period, email and telephone responses will be extremely limited.

This is the 25th consecutive year that I have had the opportunity to wish you a very happy and healthy holiday season.

I could not have survived all of these years without all of the thousands of people believing and trusting in me to provide them and you with the ultimate in service which I have provided. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

This year I turned 71 and I continue to love what I do, and as you continue to support SoundBroker, I will be around for many years to come.

Jan Landy Thinking Out Loud

Raining in Phuket In the High Season

It is 1 pm on a Monday and I am sitting in my makeshift office (2nd bedroom) in Phuket, Thailand and it is thundering and raining outside my window. Even the ducks, swans, and fish think that it is time that the rainy season ended and the sunny skies returned to the island. What happened to the beautiful weather the high season brings?

The interesting fact is that I live in Las Vegas where we would do almost anything to have as much rain as they are experiencing here, but I went from one extreme to the other.

I now realize that although the best scenario would be to have a balance of rain and sunshine, however, because that is not a possibility, I choose sunshine over rain.

Here is to sunny days in Phuket

Ahead of remarks by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell later, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard repeated his call for additional rate hikes to a level that will restrict economic growth. In an article posted online on Tuesday, Bullard said estimates show a rate of at least 4.9% would be needed. Fed officials have signaled they plan to raise their benchmark rate by 50 basis points at their final meeting of the year on Dec. 13-14, after four successive 75 basis-point hikes have lifted it to a 3.75% to 4% target range.

The experimental drug lecanemab appears to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, according to new clinical trial results, but the findings have raised some safety concerns. The results of the trial data showed the drug appeared to slow the progression of cognitive decline by about 27% — but 14% of the trial participants who received lecanemab experienced certain serious adverse events, such as brain swelling and brain bleeding. The Alzheimer’s Association said in a statement that it welcomes and is further encouraged by the full Phase 3 data. The drugmakers aims to file for approval of lecanemab in the US by the end of March.

Tunnel discovered beneath Egyptian temple may lead to Cleopatra’s tomb, archaeologist says- athleen Martinez, an archaeologist at the University of Santo Domingo, has been searching for the lost tomb of Cleopatra for nearly 20 years. Now she believes she’s made a pivotal breakthrough.
